Fine art is that in which the hand, the head, and the heart of man go together - John Ruskin

I love horses. I have had them almost all my life. They are archetypal to me. Horses, or rather the domestication of horses, set humans free from the immediate limitations of their bodies. On horseback, one could go farther, faster and carry more than was ever possible. By sheer force of human will, horses could be made into willing helpers. Work horses have always had a special magic to me. There were days on the ranch when it was too cold for the tractors to start, but the work horses did and the cows got fed.
